In the ImPACT project, deuteron is a first candidate of incident beam for nuclear transmutation of long-lived fission products (LLFPs) and accurate deuteron nuclear data on LLFPs are strongly required. Thus, we have performed theoretical model analysis of deuteron-induced spallation reactions on LLFP with DEURACS, which is the computational code dedicated for deuteron-induced reactions. Through comparison with measured data and other calculation method, the applicability of DEURACS to spallation reactions and the role of breakup processes in the reactions will be discussed.

Here we report PHITS Monte Carlo simulations of a LaBr(Ce) gamma spectroscopy system used in unmanned helicopter radiation surveys in Fukushima Prefecture. The simulated spectra were verified against measurements taken under controlled laboratory conditions. Simulations were used to characterize the peak-to-Compton method for estimating the vertical distribution of radiocesium in soil from airborne surveys.

The present work aims to improve the Soil and Cesium Transport (SACT) model, which has been developed for simulating radiocesium redistribution after the Fukushima accident. Two mechanisms, namely, vertical migration, and long-term fixation of radiocesium in soil have been newly implemented. Without parameter tuning, the new SACT model shows improved agreement with measurement results.

The thermodynamic data of glass medium and FP, essential for estimation of the technical development of HLW as vitrified waste, is obtained by the CALPHAD method. As Ru-Rh-Pd-SiO-BO-NaO-LiO system could be constructed this time, it became possible to construct the phase diagram and/or estimation of FP loading amount under various conditions.

The authors have evaluated the fragility of a reactor vessel and piping based on the response waveforms of the reactor building obtained through an earthquake response analysis. Additionally, this study has conducted quantitative evaluation on the response mitigation effect of the vessel and piping by introducing seismic isolation to the building as a preventive measure against a cliff-edge effect.

Drift closure test was carried out to understand the hydrochemical influence of cement materials to groundwater in Mizunami Underground Research Laboratory. In the end, the amount of cement material including portlandite to evolve the alkaline groundwater was quantitatively estimated 0.5mm depth of shotcrete.

In core-disruptive accidents of sodium-cooled fast reactors, molten-core materials are discharged into a lower part of reactor vessel and are mixed with sodium there. In this study, molten stainless steel was poured into sodium and its behavior in the sodium was observed by a visualization system using X-ray.
